The tourist spot that I will introduce today is the erstwhile zero milestone of Nara prefecture.
It is built on Sanjo-dori street in Nara.
This 3 meter high pillar is the erstwhile zero milestone of Nara prefecture.
Correctly speaking, it is the restoration of the erstwhile zero milestone of Nara prefecture
It is said that it was originally on the opposite side of the street.
The stone pillar next to it is a milestone of road in Nara City.
It was set next to the original zero milestone of Nara prefecture.
The zero milestone was placed one by one in each prefecture as the starting point of distance measurement.
In addition, the milestone of road are set one by one in each municipality to indicate the starting point of the road.
Both were established about 100 years ago from now.
It seems that the original zero milestone was wooden, so it faded away unnoticed.
These are near the entrance of the Mochidono-shotengai.
[ Approximate Latitude and Longitude of tourist spots etc. ]
