The tourist spot that I will introduce today is Gakuzuka of Kofukuji temple in Nara. It is near Nan'endo hall.
There are many things that attract attention soon the precincts of the Kofukuji temple,on the other hand but there are also some inconspicuous things.
There is a mound near the Chozuya in front of Nan'endo.
It is surrounded by wire mesh fence.
This is called Chausuyama moutain, but it is also called Gakuzuka.
There are many temples with a sango.
Sango is a honorific mountain name prefixed to a temple's name.
Once upon a time, the sango of Kofukuji temple was Gatsurinzan.
At one time, suddenly there was a big hole near Nandaimon gate and a lot of water spouted from there.
Also, it seems that a tree collapsed even though it was windless.
One evening, a priest received a message saying "It is because the name Gatsurinzan is bounded by water."
So, when they removed the tablet of Gatsyrinzan, a strange event ceased to occur.
It is said that this mound is where the tablet is buried.
I think that you can enjoy the mound when you know this.
